    Quick Tips for Investigating Pro/ENGINEER Objects

    Overview

    The following list is intended to provide a variety of high level methods for investigating Pro/ENGINEER objects. Understanding how a model is constructed is critical to using and maintaining that model. The more you know about a model, the easier it will be to modify it
    and detail it. It is frequently quite difficult to solve a feature failure without knowing how the model works. Pro/ENGINEER provides numerous ways to investigate models. These methods must be practiced regularly in order to understand them thoroughly and become proficient in their use.

      • This will allow you to step through the model creation, showing dimensions and references, etc.
    • In Part or Assembly Mode use the Model Tree to show feature numbers and Ids…
      • Can also be used to investigate how the model was created.
    • In Part or Assembly Mode use Set Up, Parameters, Info…
      • This will show all parameters and their values in the object.
    • In Parts or Assemblies with Pro/PROGRAM Programs use Program, Show Design…
      • This will allow you to review the Relations, Input Statements, and the Program's conditional statements.
    • In Parts or Assemblies with Pro/PROGRAM Programs use Regenerate, Enter or Regenerate, Automatic, Enter, hold the mouse over each listed item...
      • This will show you the input statement prompts and current settings.
    • In Resolve Feature Mode (during a feature failure) read the Failure Diagnostics window and Feature Info Window. Also Use Investigate, Show Ref…
    • This will show needed information to resolve the failure and the references that still remain for the failing feature.
