Axes As Centerlines

In Pro/ENGINEER, datum axes are ‘shown’ on drawings from the model. Axes are shown using #Show/Erase, and are used as centerlines.

After axes are shown on a drawing, the axis icon controls only the display of the ‘axis tag’ and not the axis itself.

After showing the axis on the drawing, it is often desired to extend the axis beyond the model further than the default distance. Turn on the axis display using the axis icon, and then repaint the window. This will show the ‘tag’ or ‘name’ of the axis. Pick #Move in the DETAIL menu then select the axis ‘tag’ and drag the mouse. This moves all four portions of the axis at the same time and maintains equal distance of each portion. After extending the axis, pick the axis icon (to turn off the tags), then repaint the window again.
