More block wall. The room is taking shape.

08 Feb 2006 Backfill the ditch.

Added the stone base.

10 Feb 2006 The concrete is here. I like the front load truck, and look at that rear overhang.

This requires skill.

The concrete floor is done.

The new electric panel is installed.

15 Feb 2006 The van is great for hauling 12' boards. Try that with a pickup truck.

21 Feb 2006 I got the windows and skylights today. I'm still hauling lumber daily.
The framing should start this Friday.

23 Feb 2006 Got the doors and more lumber today.
This is a monumental pile of stuff, the pictures don't show it at all.
Framing delayed until Saturday. :(

24 Feb 2006 The roof trusses were delivered today as planned.

This truck makes it easy to unload.

He got them up the hill as far as he could.

Oh yeah. Let's build a roof.

25 Feb 2006 The exterior wall framing is hard work.

Notice the openings for the windows.

26 Feb 2006 The roof trusses are installed next.

The exterior walls have been sheathed, minus one piece, on purpose.
Don did all the nailing. :)

The gable end truss must be securely braced.

We carried all the trusses inside and up on the walls.

27 Feb 2006 Gary helped me get two more roof trusses set into place today.
He also showed me how I can set the remaining trusses by myself if necessary.
He is smarter than I am when it comes to construction stuff.

28 Feb 2006 I set four more roof trusses into place today, by myself.

01 March 2006 The roof trusses are all set into place.

Rain/snow is on the way overnight, time to wrap it in a big tarp.

06 March 2006 The tricky part of the roof framing was not hard afterall.

Also added framing for one of the roof windows.

07 March 2006 The gable end roof overhang framing.

I installed these by myself.

10 March 2006 Roof sheathing is half done.

11 March 2006 Roof sheathing almost complete.

14 March 2006 Shingles delivered and lifted onto the garage roof.

Tar paper and drip edge installed on half the roof. Also did the flashing in the valleys.

15 March 2006 Finished the tar paper on this side. 40 mph winds all day today.

Started the gable truss sheathing, I couldn't take the wind on the roof anymore.

Digital thermostat.

14 July 2007 The garage gets two HVAC ducts!

20 July 2007 The attic steps are installed.

26 July 2007 All the wiring is complete, neat, and passed the inspection.

Electrical, ethernet, and telephone.

All the vertical holes are filled with fire stop caulking.

Many ethernet cables.

Looking up there are wires everywhere.

The wires go into the garage here (on the right side of the picture).

More fire caulking. This is expensive stuff, especially when filling extra holes.

Electric and cable TV on the office walls.

26 July 2007 Started the wall insulation.

10 August 2007 The insulation is complete.

Insulated interior walls.

Doing the ceiling by myself was fun.

And the skylight boxes too.

Insulation everywhere.

The view from the floor.

12 August 2007 Replaced the old ugly and backwards door with a fresh new steel door.

17 August 2007 The drywall is here. So exciting!

Now this is how to get drywall into the room.

All the way up the hill, just like the roof trusses.

A very handy truck to have.

Stacked nicely in the big room. I didn't lift a single piece of drywall.

I bet those 14 footers are heavy. I'm not going to find out.

20 August 2007 The drywall is hung in less than 6 hours with only two guys.

12 September 2007 Painting in progress. Steve's room is Teal. It's like being in an acquarium.

Everything is primered first.

Painting the ceilings is a pain in the ass.

Cathy's room is Coral.

We like the two colors so far. The big room is next for color.

28 September 2007 The big room is painted and the first interior door is in.

11 November 2007 The big room is finally ready for carpet.

All the trim is in and painted.

Steve's room is ready for carpet.

The spot lights are cool.

The celing fans are real nice.

Ready for the flat screen TV on the wall.

Many ehternet outlets in each room.

Cathy's room is ready for carpet.

This is my favorite room.
